"No... You can't understand. You're using the language of reason, not of the heart; you live in a world of abstractions."
In Albert Camus' The Plague, he says, "No... You can't understand. You're using the language of reason, not of the heart; you live in a world of abstractions."
What is a world of abstractions? I guess it might be various principles, victories, achievements, and sacred things. But what exactly is it? What are the benefits and drawbacks? Who benefits from it and who doesn't?
It feels abstract, understanding every word and seeing every word, but not knowing the exact meaning. It feels profound but elusive. Technology and web3 are also like this. The literal meanings are abstract and reasonable, but cannot be verified in the short term. The advantage of abstraction is that it is always right. The concrete meaning may be that it has been implemented. What are the benefits? What needs to be changed?
Behind abstraction, there is reason, not the heart. When I saw this sentence at this time last year, I deeply felt it. What constructs the abstractions behind great nouns is using the language of reason, not of the heart.
But for me, if abstraction is inevitable, I believe more in the abstractions of young people. Because no matter what, the world is yours, the world is mine, but ultimately, the world belongs to the young.
